455’s in retreat
Gregory Beecroft is currently working on an analysis of Southern stock workings under the May 2018 timetable, for inclusion in the June ‘Live Rail’. This is still work in hand, but it is already evident that there will be a severe cut back in class 455 operations.
For the benefit of those wishing to get photographs of them in places they will no longer visit, Gregory has listed below the routes these units will be on from the start of the new timetable.
Off-peak Mon-Fri their only routes are:
London Bridge – New Cross Gate – Coulsdon Town
London Bridge – Streatham – Caterham
London Bridge – Beckenham Junction
At peak times there are workings between London Bridge and Sutton via all three routes, but hardly any from Victoria. There are no workings at all via Epsom or to Tattenham Corner.
He doesn’t have details of weekend workings, but would expect them to be no more extensive than Mon-Fri off-peak and possibly less so.
