Bachmann Autumn 2020 Announcement
Bachmann’s 4mm scale 2Hap units are due in the autumn quarter!
Bachmann Europe plc presented their Autumn 2020 announcement at 09:30 this morning (Tuesday 4th August). It is predominantly a confirmation of which previously announced models – though with some new versions – are shortly due for delivery. For Southern Electric modellers the good news is as above. The 2Haps are finally due. However, there is nothing coming for 2mm scale Southern Electric modellers yet.
The surprise is the launch of a new brand – EFE Rail. This will see the re-release of EFE Underground stock, motorised, with lighting and DCC ready. Starting with 1938 Northern Line stock, available (hopefully) by the end of the year – product number E99939 4 cars RRP £349.95, with some discount retailers pitching it as just below £300. I hope they remove the dreadful moulded on handrails on the cab fronts and inner ends and replace them with separate wire versions, but this is not how the preview pictures look. The EFE Rail range will also include re-releases of models from other origins including some previous Kernow commissions with different numbers and new paint finishes. Many modellers will welcome these developments. However, given EFE is an abbreviation of Exclusive First Editions I am not sure where the concept of a range of re-released models sits with this? Perhaps a re-brand to Exclusive Further Editions???
