Wessex Electrics: The Early Years

2402 at Hedge End 9th May 1990

(above left) As mentioned earlier, the "Solent Link" electrification was officially opened on 9th May 1990 with 2402 doing the honours visiting new station Hedge End for inspection by local dignitaries.

(below left) Unfortunately the unit later disgraced itself by failing and it is seen at picturesque Bursledon making its way back to Bournemouth depot.
