2407 returns to Lovers Walk

2407 through Paddock Wood on 24th September on its way to Lovers Walk

On 24th September 2008, on a move delayed by a week, 2407 went back to Lovers Walk following its C4 overhaul at Chart Leacon. The unit is seen here passing Paddock Wood during inclement weather that typifies the Summer of 2008.

After an interval of almost seventeen years, the class has finally returned to Victoria. On 2nd October 2008 2405 led 2407 into the terminus on a trial run. The previous visit was on the 7th December 1991 when this group's "Coming of Age" railtour took 2413 (the reverse number of our 4 Cor unit 3142) into Victoria, twice.

Two movements in one day

Movements of class 442 units continue apace in preparation for their re-introduction to service in time for the new timetable in December. On 6th October 2008 there were two movements between Lovers Walk and Chart Leacon. The first, leaving in the morning, was the return of 2403 to Lovers Walk following its C4 overhaul. It is seen. left, about to take the Ludgate Line at factory Junction.

The second movement was in the opposite direction in the afternoon and clearly the weather had deteriorated by then. The SEG's favourite unit 2413, which latterly has been shouldering the majority of driver training in Sussex, is seen passing Paddock Wood on its way to Chart Leacon for C4 overhaul.
