Southeastern's Autumnal Splendour
The shortening days, crisper air, gentle mists, longer shadows, swirling leaves and golden tints to the trees mean that for many (...not including the Webmaster!) Autumn is their favourite time of year. In 2008 the wet but mild summer in the south of England provided perfect conditions for this year's Autumn tints, which it is said, in places, rivals those across the Atlantic in New England. On Sunday October 19th Colin Price took advantage of the autumnal sun to record diversions of Hastings trains via Redhill (due to an engineering possession between Tonbridge and Orpington) when the trees were beginning to turn in Surrey and Kent. In the second and fifth pictures note the leaves swirling in the wake of the train.
