Bachmann 31-510 ... 159001 "City of Exeter" Network SouthEast
Bachmann class 159 Network SouthEast - click here to view larger picture Bachmann's Class 158/9 models, whilst not part of their super-detailed "Blue Riband" range, are generally regarded as being good quality models.  The bodywork is well detailed, the paintwork very good and the model benefits from a eight wheel drive from a powerful central can motor with flywheels. In the case of the three car 159 this is in the centre car, the motor and drive being largely obscured by the smoked glass windows.  This model appeared in 1998.   A second version also appeared in 1998, 31-512, which was in Network SouthEast livery but with Stagecoach SWT branding.

Bachmann 31-514 ... 159016 South West Trains
Bachmann class 159 South West Trains - click here to view larger picture A third version appeared in 2001, in full South West Trains livery.  Both 159 models are pictured without having the separately applied cab footsteps fitted.

Bachmann  31-452 ... 170301 South West Trains
Bachmann class 170 South West Trains - click here to view larger picture Bachmann's Class 170 models, again whilst not part of their super-detailed "Blue Riband" range, can be described as drop-dead gorgeous!  In two car versions, as with South West Trains, the eight wheel flywheel drive is in one driving car.  170301 appeared in 2001, a second version, 31-452A, 170302 appeared in 2004.

Bachmann 31-460Z ... 171721 Southern
Bachmann class 171 Southern - click here to view larger picture

In 2005 Bachmann produced a special limited edition version for Modelzone  - a Southern 171.  It appeared just in time for Christmas!  The paintwork is again of very high quality, though the lighting on the cab fronts in incorrect for a late version 170/1.  The dummy coupler on these models is a bit indeterminate so it was not changed for this model - the model coupling is neither an accurate representation of a   BSI nor Dellner coupler!

Modelzone are due to release a second version 31-460Y 171725, with lightly weathered underfloor equipment, duing "summer" 2007.
