South West Trains unveil their community-heritage
operation on the Lymington Branch

interior of 1498's motor brake open standard

The interior of 1498's motor brake open standard. The interiors of these units have either had surfaces replaced, repainted or extensively cleaned. The floor coverings and window frames look to be original but cleaned. Roof and other interior surfaces have been repainted or cleaned with the seats being recovered. There is anti-etch film on the windows. The windows were sparkling clean for the units' unveiling. Very smart!

(above left) The refurbishment involved creating a wheelchair area and this has been situated in the area formerly occupied by the luggage cage in the brake van, as seen here in 1498.
(above right) An additional window has been added to one side of each unit to provide more daylight into the wheelchair area, pictured here on 1497.
