It is not just the units that have received
the "heritage" look as station signs have been replaced by British Railways
Southern Region totems - a really nice touch, thank you SWT. The picture to the left
demonstrates how "old" and new co-exist. photographs by Colin Duff |

Timewarp (almost)! There cannot be to
many opportunities to picture a blue & grey Mk1 unit and a Desiro together but the
separating of the units resulted in 1497 and 450098 sharing platform 1 together.
1497 will work the 1229 service to Lymington Pier, 450098 the 1316 stopping service to
Wareham. photograph by Colin Duff |
South West Trains are to be congratulated on a pragmatic solution to serving the local community whilst honouring its heritage. We hope local travellers and tourists alike will appreciate this initiative as much as railway enthusiasts do. As was mentioned in the speeches, "use it or lose it"! |
