Southern Electric Group assists the NRM during Railfest
SEG Chairman in E5001 cab, photograph copyright of Colin Duff The Southern Electric Group was pleased to be able to participate in the major Railfest event at the National Railway Museum, York.  As with previous "Cab-It" occasions the SEG provided a team of volunteers, led by the SEG Chairman Peter Staveley, to steward visitors into the cab of an item of Southern Electric rolling stock.  During Railfest the SEG crewed the National Collection's HA/Class 71 electric locomotive E5001 situated under cover in "The Depot".  For the entire nine days of Railfest ( 29th May - 6th June 2004 ) group members were not only able to explain the workings of the cab, booster arrangement and pantograph but also the Southern Electric system in general and promote the group.

Seen left, SEG Chairman Peter Staveley peering from the cab of the HA during a brief spell between visitors.
