Windsor Line Platform Lengthening
Network Rail poster at Vauxhall

A major infrastructure programme of lengthening platforms on the Windsor Line is now underway to permit 10 car services. The rolling stock for 10 car working has yet to be declared!

In October 2011 James Dixon visited five stations at the London end to see how work is progressing.

This is a Network Rail/South West Trains poster at the current end of the platforms at Vauxhall explaining what is going on.

Work at the east end of Vauxhall platforms 3 and 4 A pair of 458s approach Vauxhall platform 3 on a down Reading service, and it can be seen that foundation work is underway at the eastern end of platforms 3 and 4.
Queenstown Road looking east Foundation work is also underway at the eastern end of Queenstown Road. Note no protective fence!
Busy scene Queenstown Road looking west The western end of Queenstown Road has protective fencing but the area appears to be used for storage. The strength of this photo is that it shows a typically busy scene. A pair of High Capacity 450s are approaching the station on the Up Windsor, whilst a regular pair of 450s approach on the Up Main and a pair of Southern 377s pass overhead on a down suburban working.
