Class 421 Preservation

1497 heads to Norfolk!

1497 with 66705 through Brimsdown 1497 with 66705 through Brimsdown

On 28th September 2010, 1497 was dragged up to the Mid-Norfolk Railway by First GBRF's 66705. The unit will primarily be used with 73210. A buyer has yet to be announced for 1498.

Speeding through Brimsdown, Colin Duff managed to capture a couple of shots of the move.

Slam stock delivered to Eastleigh

12 slam passing through West Hampstead station on 16th July 2008 with the move from Shoeburyness to Eastleigh MBSO 66207 from 3536 in the platform at Eastleigh

Wednesday 16th July 2008, just over three years since South West Trains withdrew slam door Mk1 EMU stock (save the two 3 Cigs on the Lymington branch and celebrity 4VEP 3417), witnessed something we thought we'd never see - slammers being taken from store to works for work to restore some of the vehicles to service! Further to the story below, the move of the stock purchased by Knights Rail Services from Shoeburyness to Eastleigh Works happened on this day with First GBRf locomotive 66732 doing the honours.
