4 Cor Motor Coach open to the public

Southern Electric 4 Cor motor coach 11201, which is to be put on display at Horsted Keynes on the Bluebell Railway, will be formally opened to the public on Saturday 22 January 2005.

The exterior of the coach has been fully restored in Southern Railway Olive Green livery, lettered and lined out and Unit numbers applied. Inside the coach, one part has been restored and other parts have been arranged to show the construction of the vehicle and stages of restoration.

11201 will be open to the public on most Bluebell operating days, to allow visitors to see inside, including the driver’s cab. Displays explaining the history and technical significance of the Southern Electric system have been included.
