In addition to receiving 6 copies of the member’s magazine, LiveRail, each year, Southern Electric Group members can participate in other activities.

The Southern Electric Group regularly organises members only Site Visits to depots, signalboxes, stations and other sites.

There are two branches which meet regularly for talks, slide shows and presentations. SEG members are welcome to attend.

We occasionally organise Railtours for both members and non-members, proceeds from which go towards restoration of our 4COR 3142.

And of course, Southern Electric Group members are always welcome to help with restoration of our 4COR 3142.

Finally, the constitution of the group requires an Annual General Meeting, and Extraordinary General Meetings as required.

Branch meetings

There are currently two branches of the Southern Electric Group which hold regular meetings and other local events. The branches are the Sussex branch and the South Hampshire branch.

South Hampshire Branch

The South Hampshire branch, in conjunction with the Southern area of the LRTA, hold their joint meetings at The Eastleigh Railway Institute in Romsey Road and start at 19.30. The venue is a short walk from the railway and bus stations and there is ample parking nearby. There is a charge of £3.00 to cover meeting costs and light refreshments are available at the Institute. Visitors and prospective new members are invited to attend.

Sussex Branch

Sussex branch meetings take place in the ‘Deall Room’ at Southwick Community Centre, Southwick Street, Southwick (a short walk due north from Southwick Station) and commence at 19.30. Light refreshments are available during the interval. Visitors and prospective new members are most welcome to attend, a donation of £2.00 being requested towards the cost of running the meetings.

Please mention the Group web site when making enquiries or attending meetings for the first time.
