63 Series Stock - last mainline run under own power

5Z00 heading towards Victoria just north of Gatwick Airport station Thursday 15th December 2005 - the 5Z00 Lovers Walk to Stewarts Lane via Victoria working was the last run outside of a depot or works of 1963 series stock under its own power save for the Lymington branch operation.   Units 3486 and 3530 were moved to Stewarts Lane for removal of their shoe gear and height limiting beams. They are pictured (left) just north of Gatwick Airport Station in the failing afternoon light.

(below left) About 20 minutes after the above photograph was taken 3486 leads the formation through Stoats Nest Junction with (below right) 3530 trailing.
