Southern Belle Railtour |
Several minutes had been allowed for stops at Bournemouth and Poole, so all lost time was regained. Travellers on the SWT Mark 1 tours to Weymouth had noted the bizarre way in which the train was announced at some stations. Likewise, the automated public address and platform indicators at Poole said that the tour was the "First Great Western Hibernian" service. It would be hard to understate how much the weather contributed to an excellent day. There is superb countryside in the area served by the Southern Electric. Passengers could not have expected to see the Arun Valley, the New Forest and the Dorset countryside under better conditions. |
