SWT have restored Vep 3417 to as near as is practical and economical, and within current safety regulations, its original overall rail blue livery. It was named at a ceremony at Waterloo on June 2nd 2004 in honour of Gordon Pettit, the much respected manager of the Southern Region at the time of the introduction of these units.
This unit was introduced as 7717, renumbered to 3017 and became 3417 following refurbishment. photograph by Adam Daniels |
