Sussex Slammer Railtour
19th November 2005

The driver poses at Newhaven Marine

(left) The driver for this leg of the tour and (right) EMU photographers start young these days - a trend much to be encouraged.  We'll excuse the "hoody" hood as it was well justified by the cold!

The tour departing Newhaven Marine detonator on line

(above left) Given the right-away by a semaphore signal, the tour departs Newhaven Marine to,
(above right), in the time honoured railway tradition of last runs, the sound of eight detonators going off.  These had been placed on the track by railwaymen with the appropriate track-side permissions and this photograph safely taken from behind the fence.

Noisy departure from Newhaven Marine The smoke from the detonators is just apparent about the middle of the train as it departs Newhaven Marine, and it is almost in Newhaven Harbour station already!
