The one aspect of 3417's retro look which is difficult to revert to its original condition - the passenger saloon built into the former guard's cage area during mid-life refurbishment of the Vep fleet. This usefully increased the amount of passenger accommodation - such a large luggage/parcels, etc, area not being needed on a outer suburban unit. photograph by Colin Duff |
