SOUTH WEST TRAINS SEASIDE SLAMMER SPECIALS
JUNE 18th

another classic bit of Southern rolling stock

Some may consider the inclusion of this picture on the Southern Electric Group website odd, indeed perverse, however it is very much part of the reporting of the day.  Besides the webmaster loves all things of "Southern" heritage, not only electric stock!  Two railtours passed at Woking on their return journeys.  The down Royal Wessex, hauled by Bulleid Light Pacific 34067 "Tangmere", was held on the Down Slow as the Seaside Slammer sped through on the Up Slow.

The Seaside Slammer powers through Woking

A few moments later a "reverse" shot taken from the Royal Wessex as our Seaside Slammer tour rushes through the platform at Woking.  Note one of SWT's "Thunderbird" EDLs stabled the other side - we enthusiasts had to rush from one side of the train to the other to see both!

not quite Britney Spears, but....slam me baby one last time?

Poignant shot 2 - Upon arrival back at Waterloo an enthusiast simply could not resist the opportunity for a final slam, and as Barry Norman used to say "and why not?".

departing ECS

Closely observed by enthusiasts and SWT staff 3417 and 1497 depart Waterloo's platform 5.

almost quick as a flash the stock disappears back to Bournemouth

Poignant shot 3 - With a defiant arc the empty stock disappears around the curve on its way back to Bournemouth TRSMD.  Was this the very last slam door Mk1 working into and out of Waterloo?  We hope not.
