SOUTH WEST TRAINS SEASIDE SLAMMER
SPECIALS |

Some may consider the inclusion of this picture on the Southern Electric Group website odd, indeed perverse, however it is very much part of the reporting of the day. Besides the webmaster loves all things of "Southern" heritage, not only electric stock! Two railtours passed at Woking on their return journeys. The down Royal Wessex, hauled by Bulleid Light Pacific 34067 "Tangmere", was held on the Down Slow as the Seaside Slammer sped through on the Up Slow. photograph by Anthony Poulton |

A few moments later a "reverse" shot taken from the Royal Wessex as our Seaside Slammer tour rushes through the platform at Woking. Note one of SWT's "Thunderbird" EDLs stabled the other side - we enthusiasts had to rush from one side of the train to the other to see both! photograph by James Bunch |

Poignant shot 2 - Upon arrival back at Waterloo an enthusiast simply could not resist the opportunity for a final slam, and as Barry Norman used to say "and why not?". photograph by Ron Strutt |

Poignant shot 3 - With a defiant arc the empty stock disappears around the curve on its way back to Bournemouth TRSMD. Was this the very last slam door Mk1 working into and out of Waterloo? We hope not. photograph by R.M. Brumé |
