Vader Takes Part in Regenerative Tests
460001 speeding through Pirbright on its way to Weymouth on 23rd October 2008

No, this is not an attempt to see if Darth Vader can regenerate to become Luke Skywalker's loving father, but as part of South West Trains' regenerative brake testing of Jop units overnight between Weymouth 460001 has also been borrowed. It is seen here passing Pirbright on its way to Weymouth on 23rd October 2008. 3 Cig 1497 and 4 Vep 3417 are also being used in the tests along with class 458 units.

Interesting Working Through Tonbridge
Gatwick Express unit 460007 through Tonbridge

Well away from its normal sphere of operation on the morning of Monday 15th October was Gatwick Express unit 460007 on its way to Chart Leacon depot for refurbishment. It is pictured (left) climbing up through the mist towards Postern Bridge from Tonbridge.

Vader Partially Unmasked 2
460001 passing through Salfords on a down working on 31st August 2007

Gatwick Express class 460 Juniper unit 460001 has been running for at least six months without a fairing over its coupling at its south end, as witnessed here on 31st August whilst working the 12.45 London Victoria- Gatwick Airport service. All but units 02 and 05 were observed running during a three hour period on that day.

Vader Partially Unmasked!
DMSO 67016 of 460006 minus fairing over coupler DMSO 67916 of Gatwick Express' unit 460006 was running around for several weeks without the fairing over its coupler, as pictured here at Gatwick Airport on 17th November.  For photographs of a class 460 unit completely without any end fairing, please click here.
