SOUTH HAMPSHIRE BRANCH MEETINGS

The South Hampshire Branch of the Southern Electric Group is pleased to announce its programme of meetings for the autumn 2026 to summer 2027 season. They will be held at Junction Church (former Eastleigh Railway Institute Building),  2 Romsey Road, Eastleigh SO50 9FE commencing at 19:30 and finish by 22:00. We request a donation of £4 to offset the cost of the hire of the room.This venue is close to the railway and bus stations, and ample parking is nearby. We request a £4.00 donation to cover costs. Please note that the meeting room is on the first floor accessed only via stairs

2026 – 2027 Programme

2026

1st September:  Martin Petch’s 1984 tour of Swiss light railways and tramways.

6th October:  Martyn Davies presents another selection of ‘mixed railways’.

3rd November:  AGM followed by members’ digital images (15 minutes per person).

1st December:  Mark Greening looks at how the railway scene in the South is changing during the 21st century.

2027

5th January:  Speaker to be confirmed

2nd February:  Stephen Bigley. Railways of the West Country Part 2

2nd March:  Speaker to be confirmed

6th April:  Phil Haines looks at the Dawlish area from the late 1950s to the present.

4th May:  Speaker to be confirmed

1st June: Members’ digital images. 15 minutes maximum per person please.

The branch has its summer break in July and August.

Guests are welcome to join the meetings, so please encourage your friends to join us.

There is a charge of £4.00 to cover meeting costs and light refreshments are available at the Institute. Visitors and prospective new members are invited to attend. SUSSEX GROUP TOGETHER MEETINGS

Monthly joint meetings of the Tramway & Light Railway Society and the Sussex branch of the Southern Electric Group are held on a Wedenesday evening from 19:30 at the Southwick community Centre.

11th November: British Railways in the 1990s Part 1. Andrew Marshall.
The Centre is located a few 100 yards north of Southwick railway station, there is limited parking on site but ample nearby. Entry is free for members; a donation of £3, to help cover expenses is requested from visitors. Sometimes late changes are unavoidably made to the programme, we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

All meetings normally take place in the DEALL Room at Southwick Community Centre, Southwick Street, Southwick, Sussex, BN42 4TE (a short walk from Southwick Railway Station) and commence at 19:30, finishing around 22:00. There is limited car parking on site and opposite.
