Local groups


This group is on a summer break. Meetings will resume in September.

All meetings will commence at 19:30 and will consist of 2 sessions of 40 minutes with a 15 minute interval.

The zoom meetings are being held using the Southern Electric Group’s zoom licence and will be free of charge. The host will be the SEG’s sales manager, John Piper. To obtain an invitation to join a meeting please e mail him on segsales@southernelectric.org.uk.

Guests are welcome to join the meetings, so please encourage your friends to join us.

The South Hampshire Branch, in conjunction with the Southern area of the Light Rail Transit Association, normally hold their joint meetings at The Eastleigh Railway Institute in Romsey Road, SO50 9FE and start at 19:30, on the first Tuesday of every month. Anyone with an interest in railways and tramways is very welcome. The venue is a short walk from the railway and bus stations and there is ample parking nearby.

There is a charge of £3.00 to cover meeting costs and light refreshments are available at the Institute. Visitors and prospective new members are invited to attend. August  9th    AGM followed by “Rail Rover 2019 “ ( a railway journey through U K, Isle of Man, Canada and the USA ) with SEG member Keith Carter.

September 13th Bringing back the Brighton Belle + Atlantic news. Presented by David  Jones.

October    11th   Michael King traces the development of Southern Railway Coaches.

November 8th    Britain’s Railways in the 1980s part 1, The Early 80s.

December 13th   Member’s evening showing their slides or digital material.

All meetings normally take place in the DEALL Room at Southwick Community Centre, Southwick Street, Southwick, Sussex, BN42 4TE (a short walk from Southwick Railway Station) and commence at 19:30, finishing around 22:00. There is limited car parking on site and opposite. Entry is free to members but a charge of £3.00, to help with expenses, is requested from visitors.
