SOUTH HAMPSHIRE BRANCH MEETINGS
This group is on a summer break. Meetings resume in September.
All meetings will commence at 19:30 and will consist of 2 sessions of 40 minutes with a 15 minute interval.
7 September – Back to Where it All Began – John Goodrich. John takes us on a journey from Southampton to his former home town of Weybridge using scanned slides and digital images taken over 50 years.
5 October – Brussels Tramway 150 celebrations of 2019 – Martin Petch.
2 November – AGM followed by members’ digital images
7 December – Mixed Railways. Martyn Davies will show a further selection of slides from his extensive collection.
4 January – Mike Russell. Subject to be confirmed
1 February – Stephen Bigey will undertake a survey of freight trains from 2013, mostly in England (including the Settle & Carlisle line ) but will include some from South Wales.
1 March – John Laker will share some more of his ever-popular tram ciné library.
5 April – Classic Southern EMUs in Colour – David Brown
3 May – Bob Hodges presents more live action from his tramway DVD series – programme TBA.
7 June – Members’ slides.
Guests are welcome to join the meetings, so please encourage your friends to join us.
The South Hampshire Branch, in conjunction with the Southern area of the Light Rail Transit Association, normally hold their joint meetings at The Eastleigh Railway Institute in Romsey Road, SO50 9FE and start at 19:30, on the first Tuesday of every month. Anyone with an interest in railways and tramways is very welcome. The venue is a short walk from the railway and bus stations and there is ample parking nearby.
There is a charge of £3.00 to cover meeting costs and light refreshments are available at the Institute. Visitors and prospective new members are invited to attend. All meetings normally take place in the DEALL Room at Southwick Community Centre, Southwick Street, Southwick, Sussex, BN42 4TE (a short walk from Southwick Railway Station) and commence at 19:30, finishing around 22:00. There is limited car parking on site and opposite. Entry is free to members but a charge of £3.00, to help with expenses, is requested from visitors.
