Bachmann’s next quarter announcement – it’s good for Southern Electric enthusiasts
| Way back in 2006 when this group was helping Bachmann initially develop their 4CEP model we promoted the commonality between original and refurbished versions, obviously other than the differing body sides. Well finally, and thankfully, Bachmann are now producing refurbished CEPs.
Initially these will be in the form of the Lymington branch celebrity unit 3CEP 1199 (known as “Lucy”, formerly 4BEP 2326) in SWT colours – 31-420 (add SF for DCC sound). The RRP for the DC version is £465.95 but it may commonly be discounted to around £400. For DCC sound £569.95/~£485. |

| Secondly 4TEP 2703 in BR blue & grey – 31-424 (SF). The RRP for the DC version is £589.95 but may be found for around £500. For DCC sound £689.95/~£590. These were only temporary formations and there were only ever four of them, 2701-04.

| All of these models are due around October/November 2023, so they have been in the pipeline for some time.
I strongly suspect that as Bachmann have gone for a 3CEP and 4TEP they have (so far???) only tooled for the refurbished driving motor open seconds and trailer brake compartment composites. Hopefully, as these are the exceptions rather than the rule, standard refurbished 4CEPs will follow soon! Colin Duff. |
