Accurascale announce GBRf-type Class 73/9 Electro Diesels

Last week Accurascale announced yet more new tooling, and of definite Southern Electric interest, namely GBRf-type Class 73/9 Electro Diesels in both GBRf and Caledonian Sleeper liveries. These will be available only from Accurascale and they are now taking pre-orders for delivery ETA in the fourth quarter of 2026. The tooling has been designed to accommodate distinct detail differences specific to the two phases of production.

Considering only the GBRf livery versions to be specifically Southern Electric, there will four versions available as DC or DCC sound fitted:

ACC3325/3333-DCC, 73962 “Dick Mabutt” GBRF early livery
ACC3326/3334-DCC, 73963 “Janice” GBRf early livery
ACC3327/3335-DCC, 73961 “Alison” GBRf current livery
ACC3328/3336-DCC, 73965 “Des O’Brien” GBRf current livery

The price for DC versions is £179.99 and for DCC sound versions £279.98. As a lure, as these locos tend to work in pairs there is a special offer of a 10% discount when two locos are ordered at the same time. Accurascale are also teasing that an announcement to follow will make ordering these even more attractive. Could this be a re-run of the Caledonian Sleeper coaches, or much more useful for the Southern the rail head treatment train wagons that the GBRF livery locos haul?
